A look inside the NYC Penthouse once owned by Cher and Britney Spears

With a history of some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry as its occupants, this New York penthouse has been listed in the market with a price tag of USD$6.99 million (RM29.25 million). Its previous occupants include Cher and Britney Spears. 

The penthouse is within the Silk Building located in Noho, one of the upscale neighbourhoods in the borough of Manhattan. It is also one of the only full-service lofts conversion buildings in the Noho area, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.com.

The penthouse has a spacious built-up of 3,785 sq ft living space that comes with four bedrooms. Tall ceilings, 400 sq ft of outdoor terrace, fully operational wood fireplaces and a wet bar in the primary suite, this is a penthouse where a family of four has enough space for their own privacy. 

There is also a rooftop den that comes with a bath. The bath has an opening to a large terrace with views of Greenwich Village and the Empire State Building. On top of that, the ample space has a potential for another fifth bedroom by repurposing the rooftop den.

The Silk Building was built around 1908 and converted into an upscale loft condominium. Following the building’s conversion, there consists of 55 residences that come with a 24-hour doorman and concierge service. 

In fact, when Cher purchased a unit in the Silk Building following its transition, she was one of the first occupants of the building. Cher lived there until 1990 and let the unit go to American entrepreneur Russell Simmons with a price of USD$1.6 million. 

Later on, Britney Spears went on to purchase that same apartment and lived there for four years. This is the same apartment where Spears wrote her Grammy-award winning song “Toxic”. When Spears bought the apartment, she had combined it with another unit which resulted in the current living space of 3,785 sq ft. 

Besides Cher and Britney Spears, the Silk Building also has a roster of some prominent names residing under its roof such as English musician Keith Richards.

Noho is not a foreign location to the entertainment industry as you could usually spot filming sites in the area while some celebrities like Gigi Hadid and Cynthia Nixon have made the neighbourhood their home as well.
