• “If Pasir Gudang becomes a district of its own, we can shift some development into the area, which is currently more focused in Johor Bahru.”

PETALING JAYA (Sept 14): Plans to turn Pasir Gudang in Johor is “timely” as the population in the area has surpassed half a million people, Pasir Gudang City Council (MBPG) councillor Noor Azleen Ambros told The Star recently.

“If Pasir Gudang becomes a district of its own, we can shift some development into the area, which is currently more focused in Johor Bahru.

Pasir Gudang is one of the cities that is aggressively developing. There are many things that we can plan once it is officially made a new district,” Noor Azleen explained.

Pasir Gudang is currently under the Johor Bahru district.

Noor Azleen was giving his views on former Johor mentri besar Datuk Hasni Mohammad’s statement regarding Johor Barisan Nasional’s proposal for the state authorities to turn Pasir Gudang and Pengerang into new districts.

Later, current Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the state government would consider the proposal.

Noor Azleen also told The Star that said if such plans come to fruition, MBPG and the state government can “properly address environmental and development issues” of Pasir Gudang.
