KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 8): Iskandar Investment Bhd (IIB) has flagged a recent scam on social media, particularly on the Telegram platform.

In a statement on Tuesday (Nov 8), IIB, which focuses on the development of Iskandar Puteri in the education, creative, tourism, leisure, and health and wellness sectors, said these scammers have passed themselves as official IIB communication or impersonated IIB personnel, enticing the public to participate in fake investment opportunities.

“We would like to inform the public that neither IIB nor any of its subsidiaries is involved in or associated in any way with solicitation of money or investment from members of the public.

“We also wish to stress that these scammers and their schemes are unrelated to IIB.

“We have also lodged the necessary police report on the matter,” said the agency.

IIB also called upon members of the public to frequently check the Amaran Scam Facebook page by Bank Negara Malaysia, as well as Cyber Crime Alert and Semak Mule by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for the latest updates.

“We urge any victims of the said scam to immediately lodge reports at the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC), a command center to coordinate rapid response for online financial scams initiated by Bank Negara Malaysia, through its hotline 997 to prevent any further losses,” it said.
