Gwyneth Paltrow’s childhood home on the market for US$17.5m

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 11): A Santa Monica mansion, where actress Gwyneth Paltrow spent most of her childhood, has recently been listed for sale at US$17.5 million (RM81 million).

According to a report by TopTenRealEstateDeals.com, the property was purchased by her parents, Bruce Paltrow and Blythe Danner in 1976, when Gwyneth was just four years old.

The mansion was then sold to Jerome Dahan, co-founder of fashion brands Citizens of Humanity and 7 for All Mankind, in 2008 for an undisclosed sum.

Located in the very exclusive neighbourhood of Gillette Regent Square, the 6,887-sq ft home has six bedrooms and six-and-a-half baths while the “glass-encased formal entry leads into the expansive living room with a fireplace, theatre room, and guest bedroom,” reported the real estate website.

The chef’s kitchen is described as “massive and light-filled” with a central marble island, dining area, and top-of-the-line Wolf and Subzero appliances.

The upper floor houses bedrooms “topped by the generous master suite which includes dual bathrooms, a luxurious walk-in closet, and a balcony overlooking the pool”.

The property’s grounds cover “the almost half-acre lot, a rarity in Santa Monica”.

Other attractions include “meandering paths, fountains, mature trees including palms, two fire pits, multiple outdoor entertainment areas, and a Balinese-inspired pool and spa”.

Also part of the property is a two-storey guesthouse that comes with a sauna, office, bedroom, and gymnasium.

The Gillette Regent Square area was originally developed by the razor blade manufacturer King Gillette.

Gwyneth is famous for a list of hit movies such as Shakespeare in Love, Seven, The Talented Mr. Ripley and in her role as Iron Man’s romantic interest, Pepper Potts, within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
