MBAM partners CIOB to elevate local construction industry

KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 29): The Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) in order to further strengthen their partnership since 2016 via a signing ceremony held last Friday (Nov 25). The partnership was signed between MBAM president Oliver Wee and CIOB chief executive Caroline Gumble.

In a press statement last Friday, Wee said: “Through this MOU, we affirm that the partnership between the MBAM and CIOB will continue to maximise our respective strengths and resources to complement each other’s strategic work, whether it be in terms of education, training or activities concerning construction management and construction technology.

“Our partnership is particularly relevant in these challenging times, the post-pandemic era in particular, as we move towards recovery in the construction sector where elevating our construction fraternity in the industry and society at large is our utmost priority,” Wee said.

The CIOB, on the other hand, is known as a professional body for construction management and leadership.

“I am confident that with our joint efforts, the MOU will deliver the benefits it promises where the industry remains sustainable and competitive, especially in the era of digital transformation,” Wee said.

The statement added that it hopes the MBAM and CIOB will continuously work together to further foster collaborative partnerships for the betterment of the Malaysian construction industry.
