PETALING JAYA (Dec 6): S P Setia Bhd has appointed Datuk Zuraidah Atan (pictured) as the chairman of S P Setia Foundation, succeeding the late Tan Sri Dr Wan Mohd Zahid Mohd Noordin.

The appointment, effective Dec 1, will see Zuraidah helming the leading property developer’s vision to create a positive impact among the country’s communities, and foster national integration and unity towards a more caring society.

“[I] will do my best to uphold the spirit of kindness, [and] inculcate and enhance corporate volunteerism and unity in diversity amongst all,” Zuraidah said, thanking the S P Setia’s Board of Directors and S P Setia Foundation’s Board of Trustees on her appointment.

A veteran in corporate social responsibility activities, Zuraidah has contributed significantly in uplifting the lives of the underprivileged communities in Malaysia.

She is currently an independent non-executive director of S P Setia, and the chairman of S P Setia’s Audit Committee.  She is also a member of the Malaysian Bar and a practising lawyer under her own legal firm, Chambers of Zuraidah Atan.

Her other appointment is as the chairperson of the International Association of Traffic and Safety Sciences (IATSS) Forum (Japan) National Committee in Malaysia, which is an annual Asean-Japan Leadership Training programme for young professionals sent to Suzuka City, Japan.

Zuraidah holds an LLB (Hons) from the University of Buckingham, England and a Certificate in Legal Practice (Malaysia) and is also the honorary advisor of the National Cancer Society of Malaysia.
