• Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, 36, received a Bachelor of Actuarial Science and Economy (Double Major) from University of Wisconsin-Madison.

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 9): Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir (pictured), 36, lawmaker for Johor Bahru, has been made deputy minister of Local Government Development in the government of the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today.

Akmal Nasir will be working with minister Nga Kor Ming who was appointed last week.

The former youth chief of PKR was educated at the Malay College Kuala Kangsar and later went on to study at University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received a Bachelor of Actuarial Science and Economy (Double Major) in 2009.

Before becoming a Member of Parliament, Akmal Nasir was also the founder and director NGO National Oversight and Whistleblowers Centre together with PKR deputy president and newly-minted Economic Affairs Minister, Rafizi Ramli.

Akmal Nasir defeated Johan Ropi of Umno and Mohd Motah Yacob of Bersatu for the Johor Bahru Parliamentary seat during the recent GE15.
