KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 2): Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus) has received support and cooperation from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to launch an intermediate bus service as an alternative to the Ampang LRT (light rail transit) Line.

According to a Rapid Bus statement, this service was activated on Thursday evening during peak hours and is the result of discussions in an effort to help launch intermediate bus trips that support alternative LRT services on the Ampang route, especially between the Hang Tuah and Bandaraya LRT stations.

"The support given is for bus routes especially during peak hours. DBKL agreed to place cones on the extreme left of Jalan Raja Laut for the use of the LRT intermediate buses," said the statement.

The statement also said other support given included the use of roads closed during peak hours, and DBKL has allowed only Rapid KL buses to use Jalan Tun Perak if this road is closed during peak hours.

DBKL has also agreed to station enforcement at the traffic lights at Jalan Tun Perak and at Bulatan Dato’ Onn with the support of Prasarana Malaysia Bhd auxiliary police at these locations, it said.

According to Rapid Bus, DBKL has allowed the installation of tents at affected LRT stations for the convenience and comfort of commuters.

"Rapid Bus would like to thank DBKL for the additional support given to commuters affected by the disruption of the Ampang LRT Line service between the Masjid Jamek LRT station and Bandaraya LRT station," it added.
