In a written parliamentary reply on Thursday (March 30), Alexander gave an update on the construction status of the 316km length expressway, which is slated to be fully completed in 2025.

Part of the WCE (233km) is implemented privately by West Coast Expressway Sdn Bhd, while 83km of the alignment work is financed by government funds.

Certain sections of the expressway have gradually opened since 2019, involving the road from Bandar Bukit Raja to Kapar in Selangor, as well as from Hutan Melintang to Teluk Intan, and from Kg Lekir to Beruas in Perak.
