KUALA LUMPUR (April 10): HOMEDEC returned to Penang as it celebrated its 20th anniversary last Friday (April 7) to Sunday at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre. It is scheduled to hold another upcoming exhibition at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from April 28 to May 1.

HOMEDEC has been exhibiting home and interior design since 2003. The 20th anniversary event also marked its significance, coinciding with the rising trend of homeownership in Penang.

According to the National Property Information Centre (Napic), Penang's residential market transaction volume increased by 46% between the first quarter of 2022 (1Q2022) and 3Q2022.

C.I.S projects and business development senior manager Nica Leong said in a press release issued last Friday: “With more than 13,200 transactions valued at an average of RM500,000 per transaction, we’re looking at a renovation and fixtures market size worth around RM3.3 billion for Penang alone, and this trend is expected to continue in 2023, with more niche high-end projects expected to be launched.”

“This surge will make renovation and interior design services be in demand, and as such, HOMEDEC becomes the ideal platform for homeowners and design enthusiasts to discover the latest trends and technologies in home design and décor,” Leong added.

HOMEDEC looks to inspire renovation and décor projects, valuable ideas and solutions. Activities include feng shui talks by Master Suyen, sessions with five celebrity chefs to offer insights into their approach to cooking using everyday ingredients and a typical home kitchen setup. Meanwhile, 10 recognisable kitchen exhibitors will be providing advice on the latest kitchen designs, materials and technologies.

The exhibition is set to attract over 27,600 visitors. Apart from offers of fixtures, finishes, furniture, appliances, soft furnishings and so on, visitors have an opportunity to bag a RM30,000 home makeover package, and other cash prizes.
