KUALA LUMPUR (April 11): JLand Group Sdn Bhd (JLG) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Gentari Sdn Bhd (Gentari) to develop renewable energy solutions and green mobility ecosystem across the former’s residential, commercial and industrial projects on Tuesday (April 11).

Gentari, through this MOU, will undertake feasibility studies to integrate renewable energy solutions at selected JLG’s assets and industrial parks. Meanwhile, the green mobility ecosystem will be implemented from 3Q2023.

The selected projects are Menara JLand, KOMTAR JBCC, B5 Johor Street Market, Ibrahim International Business District and Bandar Dato’ Onn.

Additionally, JLG and Gentari will explore potential installations of an electric vehicle (EV) charging hub at Ibrahim Technopolis and renewable energy solutions for JLG’s industrial parks.

JLG and JCorp director of real estate and infrastructure division Datuk Akmal Ahmad said in a press statement: “Our partnership with Gentari signifies a milestone in our progress towards decarbonisation initiatives and enhanced capabilities in the renewable energy sector. Through our joint effort with Gentari, we are further equipped to act on our continued commitment for sustainable growth.”

“With the deployment of these renewable energy solutions and green mobility infrastructure at JLG’s assets and industrial parks, we are advancing the clean energy transition through a multi-industry approach. This is especially crucial, with JLG’s wide-spread presence and operations in the state of Johor, as we look forward to jointly enhance the energy efficiency of industrial parks, and that of its tenants,” he added

Gentari chief executive officer Sushil Purohit commented that the collaboration with JLand will enable efficient implementation and explore Gentari’s core pillars of renewable energy, hydrogen and green mobility.

He said: “As a clean energy company focused on delivering the solutions required to put cleaner energy into action, Gentari seeks to collaborate with leading entities with a broad and diversified portfolio such as JLand Group, to enable efficient implementation of integrated solutions. With JLand Group, we are able to simultaneously explore initiatives under our core pillars of Renewable Energy, Hydrogen and Green Mobility, cutting across the electron value chain to create greater value in the path towards net zero.”

Gentari’s Vehicle as a Service will also be implemented as a green mobility subscription across JLG’s residential, commercial and industrial developments to promote the adoption of EVs.
