KUALA LUMPUR (June 28): Real Estate and Housing Developers’ Association Malaysia (Rehda) has officially launched Rehda Institute Digital Resource Centre on Tuesday (June 27) at Wisma Rehda Kelana Jaya.

The ceremony was officiated by Deputy Local Government Development Minister Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, accompanied by Rehda Institute chairman Datuk Jeffrey Ng Tiong Lip, Rehda president Datuk NK Tong and Rehda Institute trustees Tan Sri Eddy Chen, Tan Sri Teo Chiang Kok, Datuk Ng Seing Liong, Datuk Muztaza Mohamad and Tiah Toh Twin as well as Rehda deputy president Datuk Ho Hon Sang.

“Over time, as we build up our collection, the Rehda Institute Digital Resource Centre aspires to be [an] R&D (research and development) centre to publish research and papers relating to [the] housing industry, where we are working on another extensive paper on affordable housing with focus to be published in 2024,” said Jeffrey in a press statement issued on Tuesday.

He added the centre has been provisionally GreenRE Certified Gold, and aims to promote sustainability and become an R&D knowledge centre in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Akmal Nasrullah said the real estate industry in Malaysia must now embrace a data-driven approach to thrive and remain competitive in today’s market. “The increasing availability of data, advancements in technology, and the evolving needs of consumers have made it essential for industry professionals to leverage data to make informed decisions and drive business.”

Currently, Rehda Institute currently runs the Masters in Real Estate Development (MRED) in partnership with University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) and also certification programmes with Monash University Malaysia (on Digital Marketing Transformation Initiative) and Property Development Process Masterclass with Sunway University.

To encourage and improve the overall skill knowledge of the housing industry, Rehda offers scholarships for the MRED programme for Rehda member company staff working in the property development industry, in addition to two open MRED Scholarships by Rehda Institute and PropertyGuru Group.

To provide better practical research insights, Rehda Institute will also be planning international study tours with an emphasis on best affordable housing practices, sustainable developments and best industrial parks to cities such as Jakarta and Nusantara in Indonesia, Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam and key cities in China in the near future.
