S P Setia celebrates unity with half marathon, fun run in Setia AlamImpian

• The event comprised a 21.1km half marathon for veterans and hobby runners and a 5km fun run which saw families with children joining in.

SHAH ALAM (Aug 25): S P Setia’s Setia4Malaysia Unity Run 2023 saw more than 3,000 participants at LakePoint Park @ Setia AlamImpian on Aug 20.

The event comprised a 21.1km half marathon for veterans and hobby runners and a 5km fun run which saw families with children joining in.

“Advocating diversity and inclusion, Setia4Malaysia Unity Run 2023 also supported the participation of 21 specially-abled individuals,” stated S P Setia in a media release.

Apart from the fun run and half marathon, residents of Setia AlamImpian also joined in the festivities as there were musical performances, food trucks, workshops and a variety of carnival activities and games.

#Setia4Malaysia Unity Run 2023 is sponsored by Nestlé, Dadi Cinema, Neutrovis, Dutch Lady, Oat Life and Ultron.

“Setia4Malaysia is our way of engaging with the Malaysian community which also involves our township residents. The run has been well received since its installation. Our previous engagement in Setia Bayuemas last year was overwhelming and this year in Setia AlamImpian we see an even greater turn-up,” said Datuk Yuslina Mohd Yunus, senior executive vice-president of S P Setia.

“Unity is very important to us in Setia, as our people are made up of different races. This is why for Setia4Malaysia Unity Run, we embrace diversity by opening the participation to not just local runners but international runners as well,” said Datuk Zaini Yusoff, executive vice-president of S P Setia.

Also taking part in the event was S P Setia’s Setia Melbourne team who were “high in the Merdeka spirit”.

“Embracing unity and diversity is something close to our hearts, as the Setia Melbourne team itself comprises individuals from different ethnicities and backgrounds. We are happy to spread the Setia4Malaysia Merdeka pride here in Melbourne along with our fellow colleagues,” said See Hunt Soon, head of Setia Melbourne.

The next Setia4Malaysia Unity Run with a 5km fun run will be at Aeropod in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on Sept 3, 2023.
