GEORGE TOWN (Oct 11): The Penang Development Corp (PDC) board of directors will address all questions arising from the Batu Kawan Industrial Park 2 (BKIP2) land sale next week, said Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow (pictured).

Chow, who is also PDC chairman, said the corporation had explained the collaborative project undertaken with Umech Construction Sdn Bhd in a meeting with the state executive council on Wednesday morning.

“The state executive council has noted PDC's explanations on the project and will leave it to the PDC board members to take the next course of action when they meet next week,” he told a press conference on Wednesday.

Chow said PDC and the state government always try to ensure the availability of industrial land in the state to meet the demand of investors by developing new industrial areas.

He added that a delay in the BKIP2 project will have a significant financial impact on the state government.

Recently, PDC selected Umech as its collaborative partner to develop a 559-hectare site in Byram near the Pulau Burung landfill in the BKIP2 area.
