MBSB brings MIDF chairman Abd Rahman, director Yasmin Mahmood on board

  • The appointments take effect on Tuesday, according to MBSB's bourse filings. MBSB had completed its acquisition of MIDF from Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) in October for RM1.01 billion.

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 5): Malaysia Building Society Bhd (MBSB) has appointed Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Bhd (MIDF) chairman Tan Sri Abd Rahman Mamat and director Datuk Dr Yasmin Mahmood to the group’s board.

The appointments take effect on Tuesday, according to MBSB's bourse filings.

MBSB had completed its acquisition of MIDF from Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) in October for RM1.01 billion.

Abd Rahman, 71, will serve as MBSB's independent and non-executive director.

He currently also serves as chairman of several other listed companies, including MCE Holdings Bhd, Lotte Chemical Titan Holding Bhd and ECA Integrated Solutions Bhd.

Abd Rahman has 35 years of experience at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.

Meanwhile, Yasmin, 60, has been appointed as a non-independent and non-executive director of MBSB.

The former chief executive officer of Malaysia Digital Economy Corp (MDEC) also sits on the board of Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd, UMW Holdings Bhd, Citaglobal Bhd and Skymind Holdings Bhd.

She had served as chairperson at Pos Malaysia Bhd from 2019 to 2021, executive director at YTL Communication Sdn Bhd (2010-2014), managing director at Microsoft Malaysia Sdn Bhd (2006-2009), and regional manager for Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan at Dell Asia Pacific (2005-2006).

Shares in MBSB finished half a sen or 0.7% higher at 72 sen on Tuesday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM5.88 billion.
