• On Jan 11, EVD had also announced the suspension of its executive director of operations Mah Seong Huak with immediate effect.

KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 16): EVD Bhd on Monday said its wholly-owned unit, EVD Engineering Sdn Bhd (EVDE), is being sued over a claim of RM600,292 by a subcontractor for the supply of civil and structural building works.

This comes after EVD announced on Jan 11 that the subcontractor, North Line Eng (M) Sdn Bhd, had obtained a judgment in default of appearance against EVDE over the claim.

The claim is over a dispute on the scope of work claimed by North Line and the verification approval of the work done at the project site, said EVD in a bourse filing on Monday. The work involved the installation of cables.

EVD said EVDE will obtain legal advice from its solicitor regarding the lawsuit.

"Further investigation will be carried out for all work performed by the plaintiff and their claims," the group added.

On Jan 11, EVD had also said that EVDE had been served with winding-up petitions arising from Construction Industry Payment and Adjudication Act 2012 claims by subcontractors totalling RM1.59 million.

In a separate filing on Monday, EVD said EVDE was served with two winding up petitions by Exypnos Engineering Sdn Bhd (over a claim of RM728,861) and Yee Cheng Construction Sdn Bhd (claim of RM870,413).

On Jan 11, EVD had also announced the suspension of its executive director of operations Mah Seong Huak with immediate effect. However, it did not disclose the reason for suspension.
