KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 22): UOB Malaysia has been awarded a platinum certification from Green Real Estate (GreenRE) for its corporate headquarters — UOB Plaza 1 Kuala Lumpur.
“We would like to commend UOB Malaysia for its outstanding efforts to sustainability by maintaining the highest standards of green building practices for its corporate headquarters. We are pleased that this achievement is proof of its dedication to creating a green space that not only prioritises environmental responsibilities, but also the well-being of its people,” GreenRE chairman Datuk Seri FD Iskandar commented.
According to a press statement on Monday, UOB Plaza 1 Kuala Lumpur was completed in 2022. It features open collaborative areas and workspaces, which are equipped with state-of-the-art technology that fosters collaboration, creativity and culture.
Some of UOB Plaza 1 Kuala Lumpur features attributed to its platinum certification are the usage of environmentally friendly and non-toxic materials that are durable and low-maintenance, energy-efficient, water and waste management for indoor cooling and lighting, water-efficient fittings and a rainwater harvesting system, and a focus on well-being with ample amenities such as a gymnasium, childcare centre, health clinic, bistros, sky gardens and indoor multipurpose hall.
“We are truly humbled to be the first bank in Malaysia to receive GreenRE platinum certification for our headquarters. The building stands as a testament to our unwavering dedication to sustainability and in supporting the country’s net-zero ambition,” said UOB Malaysia chief executive officer Ng Wei Wei.
“For us, UOB Plaza 1 Kuala Lumpur not only reflects the significant transformation taking place in UOB Malaysia, it is also a physical manifestation of our confidence in Malaysia’s long-term potential as well as our continued commitment to the country, our people and our customers,” Ng added.
