KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 7): Toll exemption will be given to users of Class 1 private vehicles on Thursday and Friday, in conjunction with Chinese New Year.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said highway users can enjoy toll-free travel from 12.01am on Thursday to 11.59pm on Friday at all toll plazas, except the Bangunan Sultan Iskandar Toll Plaza and the Tanjung Kupang Toll Plaza in Johor.

According to him, the two-day toll-free travel has estimated financial implications of RM42.99 million.

"The initiative is in line with the aspirations of the unity government, which focuses on the welfare of the people and reducing the cost of living," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

He also advised highway users to take advantage of the toll waiver to better plan their journeys, and to abide by the issued travel time advisory.

“They are also advised to ensure that they have enough balance in their Touch 'n Go cards and eWallets,” Nanta said, adding that highway users can get the latest traffic information from the Malaysian Highway Authority line at (1800) 88 7752, or on Facebook or X.
