KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 15): Bangsar Heights Pavilion Sdn Bhd has appointed Hyatt Hotels Corp to operate the Hyatt Place Johor Bahru City Centre (JBCC) hotel, which is part of the developer's Quayside JBCC development in Bandar Johor Bahru, Johor.

Quayside JBCC is a RM600 million mixed-use development comprising 482 units of serviced suites, 24 retail lots, 200 hotel rooms as well as a rooftop bar and fine dining area, all integrated in a 29-storey tower. The development was soft-launched in January last year and is expected to be completed by 4Q2026.

In a signing ceremony on Thursday, Bangsar Heights Pavilion CEO Aaron Yap said during his opening speech, “Hyatt Place is a globally recognised brand known for its modern amenities, warm hospitality and commitment to guest satisfaction, which aligns with our commitment to providing hassle-free experiences for all our customers and residents. We believe their expertise will be instrumental in positioning Quayside JBCC as a premier destination in Johor Bahru.”

The hotel will offer amenities such as a bar and restaurant in the lobby, convenience store, meeting spaces as well as a 24-hour-operating fitness centre and swimming pools.

Representing Hyatt Hotels Corp, its regional vice president of development Bastien Touzeau said, “We are now triumphant to continue the expansion of Hyatt Place in Malaysia, especially in such a prime location — the Quayside JBCC development. The location offers unparalleled access to the city’s key business districts.

“It is also an exciting time for Johor Bahru in anticipation of the new Johor Bahru-Singapore Rapid Transit System. This development stands as a testament to the relationship between Johor Bahru and Singapore. This will, in return, benefit Hyatt Place JBCC.”

Meanwhile, Yap also revealed that the residential component of Quayside JBCC comprising 482 serviced suites has been approximately 90% sold since its soft launch last year. These suites have built-ups ranging from 430 sq ft to 700 sq ft and selling prices from RM700,000 to RM1.05 million. The suites will be managed and operated by Oakwood Hotel & Apartments, a subsidiary of Ascott International Group Pte Ltd.

The retail lots, on the other hand, are for sale with a selling price of RM3,000 per sq ft (psf) to RM3,500 psf. The sizes of these lots will be revealed at a later date.

Quayside JBCC is located within close proximity to the Johor–Singapore Causeway and is accessible via major highways such as the Tebrau Highway, Johor Bahru Eastern Dispersal Link, Skudai Highway, Iskandar Coastal Highway and Johor Bahru East Coast Highway.
