NCT Group tops out Grand Ion Majestic in Genting Highlands

PUCHONG (July 23): NCT Group of Companies (NCT Group) announced the topping out of the remaining two towers of its Grand Ion Majestic (GIM) mixed development located in Genting Highlands, Pahang

With a gross development value of RM1.6 billion, GIM features three towers with a total of 1,885 serviced apartments and hotel rooms, as well as a retail space of 17,800 sq ft. 

The first tower is Wyndham Ion Majestic Hotel. The 850-room hotel opened its doors in May this year and currently has an average occupancy rate of 40%.

Meanwhile, the remaining two towers are now 95% completed. It will house the 1,035-room 1001 Nights Hotel, according to Tee Yih Fung, the executive vice president for corporate strategy and business development of Ion Majestic Hospitality Sdn Bhd, which is the subsidiary of NCT Group.  

The 1001 Nights Hotel is a Trademark Collection by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. The hotel is scheduled for a soft opening by the fourth quarter of this year. 

“Today we celebrate a milestone for NCT’s Grand Ion Majestic with the launch of 1001 Nights Hotel, a trademark collection by Wyndham. This concept is specially crafted to cater to travellers who desire a unique experience to alleviate the appeal of Genting Highlands and pique the curiosity of both domestic and international tourists,” said NCT Group vice president of finance Sae-Yap Atthakovit.

At the same event, Pahang state executive council for Unity, Tourism and Culture Leong Yu Man said that the unveiling of the 1001 Nights Hotel at Grand Ion Majestic will help boost the tourism industry in Malaysia, especially in Pahang. 

“This is the time for Genting Highlands to become a potential tourist destination and to increase its visitor capacity. At the same time, 1001 Nights Hotel has the potential to promote Genting Highlands as a new destination for the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) industry, wedding destination and filming location,” Leong told the press in the event.
