KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 19): Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) has outlined strategic measures to ensure that its capacity will meet the additional demand in line with the data centre industry’s rapid growth.

Chief executive officer Adam Saffian Ghazali said Air Selangor remains committed to ensuring a stable and sustainable water supply to its 9.62 million users while addressing the increasing needs of this growing industrial sector.

“(The measures include) raising the water reserve margin through the development of four new water treatment plants by 2030, providing an additional capacity of 2.73 billion litres per day,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

As of September 2024, the water reserve margin stood at 18.37%, up from 15.34% in 2023.

In addition, he said, continuous efforts are underway to reduce non-revenue water (NRW) to 25% by 2030, which will enhance the efficiency of Air Selangor’s water supply system.

Adam Saffian said that in aligning with Malaysia’s aspirations to become the preferred hub for data centres in the region, Air Selangor is dedicated to playing a pivotal role in supporting this goal.

“We remain committed to collaborating with stakeholders, offering expert consultation, and providing innovative solutions to support their operations without compromising the needs of other sectors,” he added.
