SUBANG JAYA (May 24): Tropicana Metropark recently welcomed upscale grocers Mercato as its anchor tenant covering 21,069 sq ft at SouthPlace Shoppes here.

Mercato offers a large variety of local and international selections including a Mercato Cafe & Bakery, Euro Deli and Uncle Jack Fried Chicken.

Located on level LG, this 12th Mercato outlet will also provide home delivery services to the residents within the neighbourhood, Tropicana Corporation Bhd stated in a media release.

“With a dedicated flyover linking the township to the Federal Highway and the introduction of SouthPlace Shoppes acquiring an influx of good tenant mix, Tropicana Metropark is fast becoming the preferred address in Subang Jaya,” added Tropicana.

Currently, all completed residences within Tropicana Metropark are fully sold with SouthPlace Shoppes and SouthPlace 2 Residences at more than 50% take-up.

“For more than 12 years, Tropicana invested in the growth and expansion of Tropicana Metropark to a vibrant township that offers work-liveplay-learn-shop components. Positioned as the first commercial hub, SouthPlace Shoppes is home to more than 9 tenants such as Red Cawan, Anytime Fitness, The General Dining, MyNews, Healthlane Pharmacy, BeauLife Clinic, KK Mart and the Huawei office, with more in the pipeline,” said Ixora Ang, managing director of marketing & sales and business development of Tropicana Corp.

“656 units of SouthPlace Residences that were recently handed over saw an increase of 2,500 residents resulting in a total catchment of 26,000 in Tropicana Metropark. Accessibility to these stores at SouthPlace Shoppes will bring further conveniences to the community and add more value to the township,” added Ang.

“Tropicana Metropark is a fast-growing and vibrant community, and we’re excited to strengthen our presence here with the opening of our 12th outlet in Subang Jaya. We’re always on the lookout for strategic locations to support our expansion, and we’re truly delighted to serve the Tropicana Metropark neighbourhood,” said Tiger Cheah, CEO of Malaysian retail group, GCH Retail Sdn Bhd.

GCH Retail is the company behind Mercato, Cold Storage, Giant, and TMC in Malaysia.
