KUALA LUMPUR (May 27): Radium Development Bhd aims to make quality, private healthcare more accessible to tier two towns and communities in Melaka.

With the launch of Radium Hospital @ Ayer Keroh (currently known as A Famosa Specialist Hospital), this will be its first healthcare facility under the newly established Radium Healthcare Sdn Bhd (Radium Healthcare). The project will be undertaken in collaboration with M Life Healthcare Sdn Bhd.

Radium Hospital @ Ayer Keroh is scheduled to be operational in the first quarter of 2028, and will be Phase 1 of the Radium Centricity master development.

Radium Centricity is a proposed 7.11-acre integrated development, focusing on health and wellness. Phase 2 of the development will include a mixed-use development to support Radium Hospital @ Ayer Keroh, with ancillary healthcare businesses and lifestyle conveniences. These include plans to build a connected hotel, services residence, assisted living centre, a confinement centre, and retail shops.

“As a brand built on the belief of ‘Building Good’, our venture into healthcare is a natural extension of our mission to serve Malaysians from all walks of life. This hospital is part of a broader vision for sustainable growth and positive impact. We are committed to responsible investment, by balancing financial discipline with long-term value creation for communities and stakeholders. Our approach is to build for the future, with projects that are resilient, adaptable, and designed to meet evolving needs,” said Radium Development group managing director Datuk Gary Gan at the official launch event.

“We see our role as partners in Malaysia's progress, contributing not just to the built environment but to the nation's broader aspirations. By supporting initiatives, such as the development of Radium Hospital, we hope to play a part in advancing equitable access to healthcare, job creation, and regional development,” added Gan.

Radium Hospital @ Ayer Keroh will be a tertiary-level medical facility with 140 beds, with the capacity to scale up to 200 beds. The hospital will also house 40 specialist clinics, four operating theatres, a cardiac catheterisation laboratory or cath lab, as well as Centres of Excellence in traumatology, cardiology, infertility, and neonatology.

The hospital will be strategically located next to the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC), and less than 4km to the PLUS Highway via the Ayer Keroh Interchange, and 12km from the Melaka city centre.

“This launch marks not just the establishment of a new healthcare facility, but the birth of a private healthcare group dedicated to enhancing lives, and improving well-being for the communities we serve. In an era where healthcare needs are constantly evolving, we pledge to remain at the forefront of medical advancement, while keeping the human touch at the core of our practice, through a patient-centered approach,” said Radium Healthcare group chief executive officer Dr Arun Kumar, during the event.

“We take immense pride in being part of the vibrant Melaka community. This hospital group represents a commitment to making quality healthcare accessible to every individual and family in Melaka, regardless of their background. We believe that good health is the foundation of a thriving community, and we are honoured to contribute to this vision. Radium Healthcare aspires to operate a few hospitals over the next 10 years. With this in mind, we are still exploring all opportunities and localities available in the market,” added Kumar.
