KUALA LUMPUR (June 4): UEM Sunrise Bhd (KL:UEMS) has appointed Azmy Mahbot (pictured) as its chief business officer, effective June 1.
In a press statement issued Tuesday (June 3), the company said the appointment is a key part of its ongoing transformation to strengthen leadership, improve execution, and deliver long-term shareholder value.
Azmy will oversee business development, joint-venture management, strategic land, corporate strategy, and sustainability.
He previously served as head of financial controller at UEM Sunrise, where he led improvements in financial discipline and enterprise-wide processes.
“This appointment is a natural progression and comes at a pivotal time, as we continue reshaping our business and positioning ourselves for sustainable growth. Azmy is a seasoned leader, who has contributed meaningfully to UEM Sunrise over the years. His financial acumen and strategic mindset will be key in sharpening our growth focus and driving long-term value,” said officer in charge and chief financial officer Hafizuddin Sulaiman.
Azmy has over 25 years of experience in corporate finance, investor relations, and strategic planning.
He has been involved in major corporate milestones, including the listing of UEM Land Holdings Bhd on Bursa Malaysia in 2008, the 2011 merger with Sunrise Bhd, and the formation of joint ventures such as Horizon Hills with Gamuda Land, and Nusajaya Tech Park with CapitaLand.
