KUALA LUMPUR (June 3): Malaysia on Tuesday announced plans for the development of ‘Madani City’ in Putrajaya, aiming to advance both sustainable and high-tech living.

Spanning 102 acres, the project will include 10,000 residential quarters designed to accommodate over 30,000 residents. The city is planned to be developed vertically and at high density, with its design integrating artificial intelligence technology, high-efficiency digital infrastructure, and green mobility systems.

“This is a strategic long-term investment in shaping Putrajaya into a model city that embodies Madani values and aligns with the Chase City Vision,” said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa (pictured), in a social media post on Tuesday.

Chase City Vision is the federal government’s initiative to create clean, healthy, advanced, safe, and eco-friendly cities across the three federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.

Zaliha said she has presented the township concept to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, adding that the groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for June 26, 2025.

“This is the foundation for a low-carbon city that upholds the principles of sustainability, well-being, and public safety,” she noted.

Anwar said in a separate social media post that the planned Madani City will include several facilities, such as vertical schools, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, financial institutions, health clinics, fire stations, police stations, and a mosque.

“All of these will be developed near residential areas,” Anwar added.

The first phase, involving the construction of around 3,000 residential units and a vertical school, is expected to be completed and fully operational by the end of 2027, he added.
