Sunway buys 99.6 acres in Kuang for RM65m to expand industrial park

KUALA LUMPUR (June 26): Sunway Property, the property arm of Sunway Bhd (KL:SUNWAY), through joint-venture subsidiary Sunway Rawang City Sdn Bhd, has entered into a sale and purchase agreement to acquire approximately 99.6 acres of freehold land in Kuang, Selangor, for RM65.1 million.

The site is adjacent to Sunway's 245-acre industrial land, which was earmarked in August 2023 for a managed industrial park.

The new acquisition will expand the scale of the planned development and is expected to raise its gross development value by at least RM700 million.

Located within the Mukim of Rawang in the Gombak district, the site is accessible via the LATAR Expressway and is near the Kuang Industrial Area and Rawang Industrial Park.

It lies around 35 minutes from Kuala Lumpur city centre and within an hour’s reach of Port Klang and Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The planned park is set to integrate factories, warehouses and commercial spaces with infrastructure supported by smart technologies and sustainable design.

Sunway Property chief executive officer Chong Sau Min said, “This acquisition is a strategic move to enhance the scale and value of our industrial offerings in the Rawang corridor.”

He added, “Our expansion in the industrial space is timely to capitalise on opportunities driven by evolving market demand from manufacturers, e-commerce players, and logistics providers.”
