- The partnership aims to provide quality education to residents in the Northern Klang Valley Corridor by expanding the area's integrated education zone. Among the schools in this zone are: Wesley Methodist Private School, SJK (T) Ladang Coalfields, and a new Chinese primary school, SJK (C) Lee Loy Seng, that is set to be completed in January 2028.
KUALA LUMPUR (July 29): KLK Land Sdn Bhd, the property arm of Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KL:KLK), is partnering with Kuen Cheng Holistic Education Bhd to build the second Kuen Cheng high school, named Kuen Cheng High School 2, at KLK Land's Bandar Seri Coalfields development in Sg Buloh, Selangor.
Both parties have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for the collaboration, according to a joint statement from them. The partnership aims to provide quality education to residents in the Northern Klang Valley Corridor by expanding the area's integrated education zone. Among the schools in this zone are: Wesley Methodist Private School, SJK (T) Ladang Coalfields, and a new Chinese primary school, SJK (C) Lee Loy Seng, that is set to be completed in January 2028.
KLK Land has allocated 9.78 acres of prime land within Bandar Seri Coalfields for the proposed Kuen Cheng High School 2. The new campus is expected to begin recruiting students soon for the 2027 academic intake.
“We are pleased to partner with KCHEB to bring accessible and quality education to Bandar Seri Coalfields and the surrounding communities,” KLK Land managing director Lee Wen Ling said in the statement, adding that the strategic partnership will also complement KLK Land’s upcoming Coalfields Retail Park lifestyle mall, which is scheduled for completion by the second quarter of 2026.
The decision to establish Kuen Cheng High School 2 was a unanimous one by its board of governors and marks a significant milestone in KCHEB's expansion.
Kuen Cheng High School chairman Tan Sri William Cheng Heng Jem said the existing Kuen Cheng High School in Kuala Lumpur has experienced overwhelming demand in recent years. Its student population now comes close to 5,000, even though the school's average admission rate has just been 49.8%, resulting in many enthusiastic applications being turned down and promising young applicants unable to secure a place, Cheng said.
"It is an essential mission to uphold and promote our valuable traditional values while also celebrating the richness and inclusivity of the multicultural landscape,” Cheng said, adding that excellent academic results and the high qualifying rate of its students among public universities have prompted the school's determination to expand.
