KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 6): Azam Jaya Bhd (KL:AZAMJAYA) has secured a three-year contract from the Ministry of Transport for upgrading works for Sabah’s Tawau Airport.
The RM120.9 million contract was awarded to Azam Jaya’s wholly owned unit Pembinaan Azam Jaya Sdn Bhd. The project will be undertaken on a design-and-build basis, the Sabah-based road infrastructure builder said in a statement.
The contract spans Aug 22 this year to Aug 21, 2028. However, Azam Jaya noted completion is expected by Aug 17, 2028.
“This contract is a valuable addition to our project portfolio and reinforces the trust placed in our ability to deliver large-scale developments. It also complements our ongoing investment in the Pan Borneo Highway and further strengthens our footprint across Sabah,” Azam Jaya executive director Datuk Jessico Lo said.
“With the funding allocation for Sabah remaining a priority under Budget 2025, we believe there will be more opportunities to support the state’s development,” she added.
Azam Jaya noted its unbilled order book stood at RM1.42 billion as at end-March 2025. The new contract will add to this tally, while ongoing projects include work packages under the Pan Borneo Highway.
Shares in Azam Jaya ended unchanged at RM1.06 on Wednesday, valuing the company at RM530 million. The company was listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia in November last year at an initial public offering price of 78 sen.
