He said the ministry implemented 6,611 projects last year, making it the highest-performing ministry in Malaysia.
"This year, we are aiming higher...targeting 10,000 public infrastructure projects in a single year,” he told a press conference during the “Sentuhan Kasih KPKT Taiping” programme at Pasar Taiping and Pasar Siang Malam here on Saturday.
Also present were Taiping Member of Parliament Wong Kah Woh, who is deputy education minister, Local Government Department director general Datuk Mohd Fadzli Mohd. The projects include nine infrastructure upgrades in Bandar Taiping City, landscape development at Lapang Tanjung Sungai Mas area in Taiping, non-Muslim houses of worship (RIBI), and 24 initiatives involving new housing construction and new village development.
“All these projects have been approved as plans under the fifth Rolling Plan, so their implementation will be implemented promptly, with completion expected by the end of this year.
“In Taiping, KPKT also has five other major projects in progress, including the RM10 million upgrade of Taiping Lake Gardens, a project aimed at making it not just a premier tourist attraction but the most beautiful and picturesque lake park in Malaysia,” he said.
