KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 20): The first Malaysian chapter of the Realtors Roundtable (RRT) Gala Dinner 2025 was held here last night, marking the rapid growth of the club’s membership.

RRT was first introduced in both Malaysia and Singapore last year, with some Malaysian agents flying to Singapore for the inaugural ceremony. With the network expanding, the gala is now being hosted on home ground.

From just 70 Malaysian members last year, the figure has grown to over 120 this year, making a total of 266 members across Malaysia and Singapore.

The introduction of the RRT trophy this year symbolises the dedication of members who have upheld their integrity in the real estate profession, while reminding realtors of the role they play in shaping communities through their success.

While last year’s recognition was based mainly on personal production, this year’s RRT also takes into account overriding commission, a measure of how realtors are building and leading their teams.

In Malaysia, this addition reflects the growing importance of leadership in sustaining the industry’s competency and raising its standards.

Eligibility for the club is determined based on performance metrics calculated in the local currency of a member’s primary market for 2024.

*Based on production and overriding commissions of Jan 1–Dec 31, 2024, expressed in local currency. Production is defined as commission income received. Production excludes basic income, team overriding commissions, and deductibles (agency cuts & taxes).

EdgeProp Malaysia managing director Alvin Ong pointed out the challenge of succeeding in the real estate industry, likening it to an ocean, which is slow at recognising effort, but merciless at punishing those who are not fit.

“Half of every new class of realtors give up in their first year. Most will not last five.

“Yet, here you are, those who have lived to fight another day, who have not only made it through when others have failed, but who have conquered the game and have come up on top,” he said during his welcome speech.

Ong added that the RRT is designed as an enduring professional community.

“This is not an award, because awards come and go. This is a membership. It must be earned each year—through performance, yes—but also through trust, professionalism, and the quiet reputation that you have built year in year out.

“The power of the RRT is not in the title, but in the gathering of people who push one another forward, who learn, and who raise the standard of the profession itself.

“You are joining a circle that will set the course for this industry,” he said.

This year’s RRT is supported by AFFIN Bank. Other partners include spirits importer and distributor Drinks Connexion; and Millennium Welt, a national BMW-vehicle one-stop centre.
