KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 20): Pekat Group Bhd (KL:PEKAT) has secured a RM33.8 million subcontract from Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd for works at a hyperscale data centre in Eco Business Park V, Puncak Alam, Selangor.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said the contract, awarded to its wholly-owned subsidiary Pekat E & LP Sdn Bhd, covers the construction, testing, commissioning and operational setup of earthing and lightning protection systems across multiple areas, including data halls, mechanical and electrical yards, and the offshore development centre hub.
Trade completion is set for Dec 16, 2026 (Facility 1) and April 15, 2027 (Facility 2), with substantial completion targeted for Feb 28, 2027 and Sept 1, 2027 respectively. The defects liability periods are 36 months for Facility 1 and 30 months for Facility 2.
Pekat is required to provide a RM1.69 million performance bond and obtain necessary insurance coverage. Failure to meet deadlines may result in delay damages of RM50,000 per day, capped at 20% of the subcontract value (RM6.76 million).
Pekat’s shares were up 0.62% to RM1.62 a share at Thursday's noon break,valuing the company at RM1.14 billion. The stock is up 63.64% this year.
