KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 22): Playtopia World Sdn Bhd officially opened Malaysia’s first Harborland indoor theme park at KLGCC Mall in Bukit Kiara, Kuala Lumpur, on Saturday. Harborland is an indoor theme park attraction that originated from Thailand.

Spanning 25,000 sq ft with a 30-foot ceiling, the theme park has 44 attractions. It features multiple zones including HarborTown (a role play city for children aged five and above), Little Ville & Toyland (an area offering premium toys and interactive learning activities for toddlers and preschoolers), Mainplay & Kid’s Island (a large-scale adventure playground children aged seven and above), Arts & Craft corner (a creative space for artistic expression), and a common area (a mini mart cafe).

“The idea of bringing HarborLand to Malaysia started two years ago when we learned that HarborLand Thailand was ready to expand internationally,” said HarborLand Malaysia chief executive officer Jane Leong during the official launch ceremony.

“We visited six outlets in one day and saw firsthand how thoughtfully designed each playground is and the joy on every child’s face. It was clear that HarborLand was more than just a play area—it is a space intentionally designed to support holistic child development, nurturing both the physical and creative sides of the brain,” Leong added.

She further noted that the theme park has been designed to meet the EN-1176 international safety standards where materials are non-toxic, free from harmful metals and durable to ensure a safe environment for its visitors.

On how HarborLand started, HarborLand Thailand CEO Prakarn Nokhong said that he struggled to find suitable places to bring his children to have fun.

“That’s how HarborLand started 10 years ago. We intend to build a place where our children can play in a safe, clean and hygienic environment. We now have 28 branches of HarborLand indoor playground and one waterpark and next year, we will have 36 branches of HarborLand indoor playground and five waterparks opening in Thailand.”
