KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 5): Property developer EcoFirst Consolidated Bhd (KL:ECOFIRS) announced boardroom changes on Friday with the departure of its non-independent non-executive director Datuk Ng Hock Heng and independent non-executive director Chin Wing Wah.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, EcoFirst said they also stepped down from the audit, nomination and remuneration committee. Both cited personal reasons as grounds for their departure.
Ng, 58, joined the group in 2015 as an independent non-executive director and was redesignated as non-independent non-executive director of the company last month. Chin, 61, joined the board in 2022.
The group’s then chairman Datuk Faisal Zelman Abdul Malik passed away in November, which led to Chew Hian Tat taking up the role.
EcoFirst’s board of directors currently consists of Chew, 51; independent non-executive director Wong Pooi Seen, 59; and Teoh Tuck Wah, 36.
Teoh is the newest addition to the board, appointed on Dec 2 as an independent non-executive director.
With Ng and Chin’s departures, Wong has been designated as chairperson of the remuneration and nomination committees.
Previous board member executive director Datuk Teoh Seng Kian, 65, also stepped down in October due to retirement.
EcoFirst said it will fill the vacancies within three months from the date of the announcements.
At the time of writing on Friday, EcoFirst shares were down one sen or 3.03% to 32 sen. The group has a market capitalisation of RM386.5 million.
