George Kent bags RM34.5m job to supply rail profiling machine for Kelana Jaya LRT

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 22): George Kent (M) Bhd (KL:GKENT) has been awarded a RM34.5 million contract by Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) for the design, supply, delivery, testing and commissioning, and warranty of one unit of rail profiling machine for the Kelana Jaya LRT line.

The project commenced on Dec 16 and it will be completed within 24 months.

In a statement, George Kent executive chairman Tan Sri Tan Kay Hock said this award demonstrates the group’s technical expertise and strong track record in delivering specialised rail engineering solutions.

Looking ahead, the group said it remains optimistic on opportunities in the rail and infrastructure sector.

“Leveraging its extensive experience and technical know-how, the group is well-positioned to continue contributing to the development and sustainability of Malaysia’s public transportation network,” it added.

George Kent specialises in the turnkey construction of water infrastructure and hospital projects, system works for rail transportation, and operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities.  

On Monday, George Kent’s share price settled one sen or 3.03% higher at 34 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM192 million.
