KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 23): Mah Sing Group Bhd (KL:MAHSING) has opened a new ingress and egress ramp and toll plaza to Bestari Perdana along the Senai-Desaru Expressway (SDE), a move expected to accelerate the growth of its 1,313-acre integrated township, Meridin East.
According to a statement on Thursday, the RM70 million infrastructure forms part of the newly completed 5.1km Pasir Gudang Connector, linking the expressway directly to Jalan Kong Kong and Tanjung Langsat.
Located about 5.5km from the ramp, Meridin East has an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM5 billion and is set to deliver approximately 13,000 residential and 3,700 commercial units upon full completion.
A 60.9-acre site within the township has also been earmarked for data centre development, reinforcing the area’s appeal for high-value industries.
“The opening of the Bestari Perdana ramp is a significant step forward in enhancing connectivity and accessibility in this fast-growing corridor of Johor,” said Mah Sing founder and group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum.

The toll plaza features two lanes each for radio-frequency identification (RFID) and Touch 'n Go, and is designed to facilitate cashless and efficient travel between residential areas and key industrial zones.
The ramp is expected to benefit over half a million residents across Kota Masai, Kong Kong, Tanjung Langsat, Pasir Gudang, Johor Halal Park, Cahaya Baru and Kampung Sentosa.
Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said the infrastructure reflects the state's approach of long-term planning and strong public-private collaboration to attract investment and support growth.

Since 2000, Mah Sing has secured 2,999 acres across Johor, with a total estimated GDV of RM16.8 billion, including township, mixed-use and industrial developments.
The group’s recent initiatives include M Grand Minori in Johor Bahru, located 3km from the upcoming Bukit Chagar RTS Station, and the RM2.26 billion MS Industrial Park @ Kulai within the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.
