PETALING JAYA (Feb 6): KL Wellness City (KLWC) kicked off its “Kongsi Cahaya” celebration for the 2026 Chinese New Year, highlighting community support and updates on the progress of the township.

Managing director Datuk Dr Colin Lee said the theme Kongsi Cahaya reflects KLWC’s core mission to promote health and hope.

“As we enter the Year of the Horse, we are not just celebrating a festival, but also the spirit of community. By supporting local artistes and the less fortunate, we hope to share the light of prosperity with everyone in this township,” he said.

He added that as they usher in the Lunar New Year through Kongsi Cahaya, they are encouraged by the steady progress across KL Wellness City.

“Construction of our rooftop helipad is underway to support critical patient transfers, while The Nobel Healthcare Park remains on track for vacant possession by mid-2026. At the same time, the Kuala Lumpur International Hospital is progressing as planned, with completion targeted for the fourth quarter of 2026.

"These milestones reflect our commitment to building a comprehensive, future-ready healthcare ecosystem that serves both local communities and the wider region,” he stated.

A highlight of the event was the debut of five original Chinese New Year songs, performed live by local groups including 1119 Entertainment, Mari Home Group of Artists, Jubilee World Pageants, Goddess of Nature Malaysia, and Top Scholar Education Group.

The performances, featuring songs such as “Blessings Are Coming” and “A Year to Shine,” showcased local creative talent.

KLWC also extended its support to local orphanages, sharing the festive spirit with Lighthouse Children Welfare Home Association in Kuala Lumpur & Selangor, Persatuan Kebajikan Rumah Victory Malaysia in Puchong, and Yayasan Sunbeams Home in Cheras.

“True prosperity is measured by how much we give back. Supporting these homes ensures the joy and light of the New Year reach every corner of our community, especially the younger generation who represent our future,” Lee explained.

KLWC also held a lucky draw for attendees of Kongsi Cahaya, with 10 winners each receiving a RM1,000 Health Screening Voucher, redeemable at the future Kuala Lumpur International Hospital. The initiative reflects the township’s focus on preventive healthcare and community wellbeing.

Representing Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Tourism Malaysia director-general Mohd Amirul Rizal Abdul Rahim said KL Wellness City shows how innovation and culture can go hand in hand.

“By celebrating our heritage while advancing healthcare infrastructure, this project strengthens Malaysia’s position in medical and wellness tourism and encourages communities to embrace wellness and prosperity together,” he said.
