KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 6): AIMS, the data centre arm of TIME dotCom Bhd (KL:TIMECOM), closed the acquisition of the 10-acre land that paved the way for the construction of a RM4 billion data centre in Cyberjaya.
The hyperscale facility will have capacity of up to 200 megawatts, subject to final engineering confirmation, according to a statement from AIMS. The data centre, capable of supporting artificial intelligence (AI) computing, is expected to be completed in 2027.
The acquisition ensures AIMS remains ahead of demand, said AIMS CEO Chiew Kok Hin.
“Beyond adding capacity to fuel the strong demand, we are investing in nation-building, from creating jobs and upskilling local talent to enabling Malaysia to serve as the home base for global cloud service providers, fintech players and AI innovators,” he said.
A signing ceremony of the sale and purchase agreement was held earlier this week with Cyberview CEO, Kamarul Ariffin Abdul Samad, witnessed by Minister of Digital Gobind Singh Deo and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation CEO Anuar Fariz Fadzil.
The planned investment comes as Malaysia pushes the AI Nation agenda that targets to have 30% of its gross domestic product coming from the digital economy by 2030.
“Investments like this ensure Malaysia remains competitive, resilient and future-ready by building the digital foundations needed to scale AI, strengthen our industries and create high-value opportunities for the rakyat,” Gobind said.
AIMS has invested over RM2 billion in digital infrastructure since the entry of US-based digital infrastructure firm DigitalBridge in 2023. In July 2025, AIMS announced the early completion of Cyberjaya Block 3, bringing its total potential capacity in the Klang Valley to over 100 megawatts.
