KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 9): IJM chairman Tan Sri Krishnan Tan, who was detained on Thursday and released later that same day after assisting the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) with investigations, has expressed full confidence in the nation's legal and enforcement processes.

In a statement on Sunday, Tan noted that he is not involved in the group’s day-to-day operations and management.

“I have fully cooperated with the authorities and will continue to do so… At this juncture it would not be appropriate for me to comment further as investigations are ongoing,” he said.

On Friday, the anti-graft agency’s chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki told The Edge that Tan’s release was due to his health condition.

In a separate statement on Sunday, IJM stressed that it has established adequate procedures and maintains robust governance frameworks, including the implementation of an Anti-Bribery Management System certified to ISO 37001:2025.

“Appropriate measures have been taken to ensure that the group’s business is conducted with integrity and free of corruption,” it noted.

IJM also assured that the company’s business operations continue as usual.

“The board and management team remain focused on business continuity, maintaining confidence among customers and partners, and upholding strong corporate governance and compliance standards.”

As the matter is currently under investigation, IJM said it will not be making further comments at this stage.

“The company will provide updates where appropriate and in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

IJM added that the group “is cooperating fully with the authorities, has responded promptly to all requests, and has made available all relevant information and personnel to facilitate the investigation”.

The MACC had previously disclosed it was investigating allegations of money laundering involving IJM, which has rejected the allegations, describing the claims as unfounded.

In January, investigators from the MACC visited IJM’s office, alongside officers from the Inland Revenue Board to obtain documents.
