KUALA LUMPUR (March 2): Conglomerate Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) (KL:BJCORP), whose largest shareholder is its founder and adviser Tan Sri Vincent Tan Chee Yioun with a 26.32% stake, said on Friday it has appointed Levin Tan Eng Kien as executive director, effective immediately. Levin is not related to Vincent.
Levin, 42, has more than 18 years of experience in investment banking and private equity across Southeast and Central Asia. He began his career in 2007 in corporate finance at Maybank Investment Bank and has since been involved in regional private market investments, including investment execution, portfolio management and divestments.
He currently sits on the board of Berjaya Group Bhd and STM Lottery Sdn Bhd, and holds directorships in several private companies within the Berjaya group.
"As a director of BCorp, he is expected, along with the board, to drive strategic direction, business excellence and sustainable value creation across the group’s diversified businesses," the group said in a statement.
Chief executive officer Nerine Tan said Levin’s finance experience and track record in strategic investments would strengthen the board’s stewardship and support efforts to reduce costs and boost revenue. Nerine is the daughter of Vincent. His other daughter, Chryseis Tan, also sits on the board.
For the financial year ended June 30, 2025, women made up 44.2% of BCorp’s workforce, with 50.08% of management roles held by women, the group said.
Shares of BCorp closed unchanged at 27 sen on Friday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM1.6 billion. The stock has gained 1.6% over the past 12 months.
