PETALING JAYA (April 7): TA Global Bhd has completed an RM18 million elevated pedestrian bridge linking the Sri Damansara Sentral MRT station to its Damansara Avenue development. Spanning 320m, the bridge was constructed over approximately 18 months, beginning on June 15, 2022, and completed on Dec 31, 2023.
The project reflects urban development priorities centred on connectivity, convenience and sustainability, while improving access to public transport within the area, said Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) mayor Datuk Mohamad Zahri Samingon at the opening ceremony held here today.
He added that the bridge enhances mobility by linking nearby residential, commercial and transit nodes, while encouraging greater use of public transport.
“It prioritises people and public transport, while improving mobility and encouraging greater use of transit systems,” said Mohamad Zahri.
“The public is encouraged to make full use of the facility, which can help reduce traffic congestion and support a more sustainable and healthy lifestyle,” he added.
The construction demanded highly specific engineering and design responses as it crosses intersections of major arterial routes, including the Damansara-Puchong Expressway (LDP), Jalan Kuala Selangor, and the Duta–Ulu Klang Expressway (DUKE) 2, said TA Global in a statement today.
The bridge forms part of the wider Damansara Avenue development, which spans 48 acres and comprises residential, commercial and retail components.
“The link bridge marks an important milestone in our ambition to create a more connected Damansara Avenue,” TA Enterprise managing director Datin Alicia Tiah said during her speech.
A future pedestrian link is planned to connect to DA Central Mall, expected to be completed in 2028.
When DA Central Mall is completed, the same link bridge launched today will be extended to connect directly to the mall.
Damansara Avenue is being developed in phases, TA Global chief operating officer Lee Yen Foong told EdgeProp.
Phase 1 of Avito Annexe within the Damansara Avenue master plan includes a shopping mall, The Arden strata office tower and two residential towers under Amaya Residences. Future phases are expected to include Menara TA Global and a Paradox Hotel, alongside additional components such as senior living and a final residential tower.
He added that subsequent commercial phases will be developed on land currently occupied by interim structures, including the Uniqlo standalone store, which is part of DA Square.
The long-term vision is to create a fully integrated environment where retail, dining, medical facilities and office spaces are within close reach.
“The aim is to build a connected development that supports daily life while aligning with a transit-oriented development concept,” he said.
Lee said Damansara Avenue carries a combined gross development value (GDV) of RM10 billion, while the group’s KLCC projects — including CloutHaus Residences and Paradox Hotel and Residences — have an estimated GDV of approximately RM3 billion.
In total, the group’s launched developments amount to about RM4.5 billion, with additional projects planned in U-Thant and Bukit Bintang, both in Kuala Lumpur city centre; and Kluang, Johor.
A new township in North Rawang, known as Richmond Estate, is also planned, with its first phase carrying an estimated GDV of RM300 million, comprising landed residential and commercial components.
