PETALING JAYA (April 17): Gamuda Bhd's wholly-owned subsidiary Gamuda Engineering Sdn Bhd (GESB) has been awarded a RM1.72 billion contract to construct a hyperscale data centre in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, by a multinational technology company headquartered in the United States.

The contract, announced to Bursa Malaysia today (April 17), is a build-only arrangement covering site infrastructure works, building core and shell construction, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) fit-out construction for a single-storey hyperscale data centre facility.

Construction is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2026, with completion targeted by the first quarter of 2028.

Gamuda said the project is expected to contribute positively to the group's revenue and earnings from the financial year ending July 31, 2026 onwards until completion.

The group noted that the project is subject to normal construction risks including material price fluctuations, which it said it will mitigate through its experience and expertise in construction.

None of Gamuda's directors or major shareholders has any direct or indirect interest in the project.

The latest award adds to Gamuda's growing data centre construction portfolio.

The group previously secured a RM1.74 billion contract to build a hyperscale data centre at Sime Darby Property's Elmina Business Park in 2024, as well as a RM451.4 million data centre job in Cyberjaya in May 2025,

Gamuda also sold approximately 389 acres of land in Port Dickson to Pearl Computing Malaysia — a Google affiliate — for RM455.23 million, while simultaneously securing over RM1 billion in related construction works at the same site. The land sale was announced on May 5, 2025 (Bursa filing dated May 5).

The Port Dickson project brings Gamuda's cumulative data centre-related contract value to well above RM3 billion, cementing the group's position as one of Malaysia's most active contractors in the hyperscale digital infrastructure segment.
