KUALA LUMPUR (April 17): SGX Mainboard-listed InnoTek Ltd has committed S$5 million (RM15.5 million) to a new manufacturing facility in Melaka, which is slated to begin operations this year as the company looks to strengthen its presence in Southeast Asia.
The 10,000 sq m (107,639 sq ft) plant will boost regional capacity for precision metal-stamped components, the company said in a statement.
InnoTek chief executive officer Lou Yiliang said the Melaka plant marks a key step in the company’s expansion, noting that a strong and flexible manufacturing presence in Southeast Asia is critical as the group grows and moves into higher-value industries.
“The facility enhances our ability to serve customers with the quality, cost, delivery and service standards they expect.”
The expansion comes amid a shift by manufacturers away from China to mitigate supply chain disruptions and geopolitical risks. In addition to the new Melaka plant, InnoTek — a precision metal components manufacturer — operates six facilities in China, and one each in Vietnam and Thailand.
The Melaka facility comprises two main buildings housing production, warehousing and office functions, and is operated by Mansfield Manufacturing (M) Sdn Bhd, which was incorporated in May last year via the group’s wholly owned subsidiary, Mansfield Manufacturing Company Ltd.
The plant is equipped with high-tonnage stamping machines, including 400-tonne presses, as well as secondary processing capabilities such as tapping, welding and surface finishing, including powder coating. It also features automated production lines and quality assurance systems to enhance efficiency and consistency.
