PETALING JAYA (April 24): Battersea Power Station is set to host a series of immersive art installations and family-friendly activities this May half-term, running from May 23 to 31.
Announced via a statement by Battersea Power Station Development Co Ltd, the highlight of the season is Luxart, a bespoke inflatable Luminarium created by Nottingham-based Architects of Air for Battersea Power Station.
Designed by artist Alan Parkinson, the monumental installation transforms Power Station Park on the River Thames into an immersive world of light and colour, guiding visitors through interconnected domes including the Green Dome, the Red Tree chamber and the Blue Helix Dome, culminating in a central Cupola. Tickets are priced at £10 (RM53.40) per person.
Also debuting at Battersea is A Line Florist by London-based artist Anna Bruder, following a sold-out run at The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Running from May 23 to 31 inside the Power Station, the interactive installation reimagines popular flowers — daisies, roses and lilies — as hand-drawn artworks in Bruder's signature bold black-and-white style.
Each visitor receives a token to exchange for an illustrated flower, which they can personalise before capturing their creation in front of the artist's striking murals.
The 30-minute experience is priced at £10 per person and is open to all ages.
Beyond the art installations, the riverside neighbourhood will host the River Walk Market every Sunday until the end of August, spotlighting independent food, drink and artisan traders.
Over the Bank Holiday weekend from May 22 to 25, the Curated Makers Pop-Up Market will return with handmade jewellery, homeware, artwork and gifts from independent designers.
Visitors can also explore Battersea Power Station's wider year-round attractions, including The Chimney Lift — a glass elevator offering 360-degree panoramic views of London's skyline from 109m atop the northwest chimney — and the Ramses and the Pharaohs' Gold exhibition at NEON at Battersea Power Station, featuring 180 ancient Egyptian artefacts.
The destination is home to more than 170 shops, restaurants, bars and cafes, with family-friendly highlights including LEGO, Peppa Pig, Transformers, Macaroni Penguin soft play and The Cinema in the Power Station.
Battersea Power Station is accessible via the Zone 1 Battersea Power Station Underground station on the Northern Line, within 15 minutes of the West End and the City, as well as by Uber Boat via Thames Clippers from Embankment, Blackfriars, Putney and Canary Wharf.
Battersea Power Station is the iconic Grade II* listed landmark in London jointly owned by Malaysia's Employees Provident Fund (EPF) and Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) as part of their global real estate investment portfolio.
