PETALING JAYA (May 20): Sunway Property has commenced traffic improvement works at the Persiaran Kewajipan roundabout in Subang Jaya, in collaboration with Majlis Bandaraya Subang Jaya (MBSJ), targeting completion by year-end 2026.

The roundabout is a key connectivity node linking Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya, USJ Taipan and surrounding routes including the Federal Highway and New Pantai Expressway, and has long been a significant traffic pressure point serving residents, schoolchildren, commuters and visitors to healthcare and educational institutions in the broader Subang Jaya ecosystem.

Key works include the installation of three AI-powered smart traffic lights to regulate roundabout inflow and optimise vehicle movement, route reconfiguration redirecting traffic from the SS15 direction towards Bandar Sunway via a U-turn after Sri Kuala Lumpur School, junction and U-turn enhancements to reduce conflict points, and lane widening at the Bandar Sunway–USJ Taipan exit to reduce bottlenecks.

The reconfiguration is based on findings from in-depth traffic studies.

To minimise disruption, lane closures will be conducted during off-peak and overnight periods in accordance with MBSJ guidelines.

Sunway Property CEO Chong Sau Min said the upgrade was developed in consultation with traffic specialists and in coordination with MBSJ.

"As a Master Community Developer, we view infrastructure and connectivity as vital components of how townships grow and function over time," he added.

The Persiaran Kewajipan works form part of broader connectivity enhancement efforts across the Bandar Sunway, Subang Jaya and USJ area, with Sunway Property's collective infrastructure improvement works in the corridor representing an estimated investment in excess of RM100 million.
