KPKT: Malaysia emerges as biggest winner at FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2026

PETALING JAYA (June 12): Malaysia has emerged as the biggest winner at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2026 held in Vienna, Austria, with the country’s developers taking home six gold and six silver awards across multiple categories, according to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).

In a statement, KPKT said the latest wins bring Malaysia’s historical tally to 46 gold medals at what is often dubbed the “Oscars of Real Estate”, which it said reflects the competitiveness of the local property sector on the global stage.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said the strong showing affirmed Malaysia’s capabilities in delivering sustainable, high-quality property projects and liveable communities that meet international benchmarks.

“Malaysia emerging as the biggest winner at the FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards 2026 is the best testimony of our world-class housing and property development capabilities,” he said.

“This is not just a win for our developers but also a pride to our nation. It proves beyond doubt that our local developers are capable of delivering sustainable, high-quality projects and building thriving communities that match international benchmarks.”

Nga said the achievement follows the implementation of a series of housing and regulatory reforms by the ministry, including the Housing Integrated Management System (HIMS), TEDUH, the electronic sale and purchase agreement (eSPA) and the mandatory audit of the Housing Development Account (HDA), aimed at facilitating and strengthening real estate development.

“It is obvious that the MADANI housing reforms have started to bear fruit,” he added.

Looking ahead, Nga called on industry players to leverage the international recognition to further raise standards while ensuring broader access to quality homes.

“We hope that the rest of the industry will see this remarkable achievement as an inspiration to keep innovating and continually elevating the benchmark for our property industry,” he said.

“By combining government support with the private sector’s world-class expertise, we remain dedicated to building more liveable and lovable communities for the rakyat,” he added.

List of FIABCI 2026 winners for Malaysian developments

Based on the official 2026 FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards broadcast, this is the list of property developments in their respective categories that secured the wins for Malaysia:

FIABCI Gold

​Highlights: Recognised for transforming the land into a highly sustainable, natural township. The master plan focuses heavily on biodiversity, anchored by a 50-acre central park, multiple lakes, waterfalls, and shaded trails designed to naturally cool the township and enhance community connectivity.

​Highlights: Celebrated as a hallmark of urban rejuvenation. The project seamlessly integrates residential blocks, a commercial hub (featuring an accredited office tower), direct retail access, healthcare, and education centres. It stands out for its extensive connectivity, utilising an integrated link bridge network directly connected to multiple transit lines.

​3. Office: Menara Merdeka 118 by PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn Bhd

​Highlights: Touted as setting a new global benchmark for world-class workplace excellence. The iconic mega-tall tower provides over 1.66 million sq ft of premium workspace over 84 floors, featuring advanced underfloor air conditioning, intelligent building controls, and direct integration with major rail transit infrastructure (MRT, LRT, and monorail).

​4. Residential High-rise: Park Regent, Desa ParkCity by joint venture between ParkCity Group and CapitaLand Development

​Highlights: Commended for reimagining high-rise living by blending water elements with natural parklands. It was recognised for its timeless architecture that prioritises open visual corridors, immersive lake views, optimised daylight, and excellent natural ventilation.

​5. Retail: Elmina Lakeside Mall by Sime Darby Property Bhd

​Highlights: Awarded as a future-ready, open-air "retail-tainment" neighbourhood mall. Located in the City of Elmina, the design integrates a lakeside promenade with sustainable infrastructure, including EV charging stations, solar energy harvesting, and dedicated public green spaces that attract over 500,000 visitors monthly.

​6. Sustainable Development: Menara Merdeka 118 (second Gold win) by PNB Merdeka Ventures

​Highlights: Earned double Gold for its environmental credentials. It is the first mega-tall building in Malaysia to achieve dual Platinum pre-certification under LEED and WELL, while remaining on track for Greenre and GBI Platinum status. Key highlights include its high-performance smart e-glass facade (maximising natural light while minimising thermal heat gain) and advanced Building Information Modelling (BIM) tracking.​
