PETALING JAYA (June 18): SkyWorld Development Bhd secured a World Silver Award at the 2026 FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards in Vienna, Austria last week, with the recognition going to its SkyAwani 5 Residences project in the Affordable Housing category. The win marks the fourth consecutive year the Kuala Lumpur-based urban developer has taken home a world-level accolade from what is described as the "Oscars of Real Estate".

The four-year run at the FIABCI awards spans both affordable housing and residential high-rise categories. In 2023, SkyAwani 2 Residences took the World Gold Award in the Affordable Housing category. SkyAwani 3 Residences repeated that result the following year, again claiming World Gold in the same category.

The 2025 cycle brought a World Silver in the Residential High Rise category for SkyLuxe On The Park Residences. SkyAwani 5 Residences has now returned the winning project to the affordable segment, this time with a Silver.

SkyAwani 5 Residences is positioned as a condominium-standard development delivered within the pricing constraints of Malaysia's affordable housing framework. The project incorporates family-oriented recreational facilities alongside parcel lockers, sheltered delivery rider bays and digital property management through SkyWorld's own Connects app.

Residents also have access to the group's Solution+ ecosystem, which provides furnishing and move-in packages intended to reduce the friction of taking ownership of a new home.

Chief executive officer Lee Chee Seng addressed the significance of the award. "Achieving recognition at the FIABCI World Prix d'Excellence Awards for four consecutive years is a proud milestone for SkyWorld.

“More importantly, it reflects our commitment to delivering quality developments that create meaningful value for homeowners and communities," he said.

Lee was direct about why this particular win carries extra weight. "This year's recognition is especially significant as SkyAwani 5 Residences is an affordable housing development.

“It demonstrates that quality design, lifestyle-centric facilities and a well-managed living environment can be delivered within an accessible homeownership model," he added.

SkyWorld was founded on the stated vision of being an “Always Best City Developer,” with its current development portfolio concentrated in Federal Territory Kuala Lumpur and Penang. The group focuses on high-rise residential, commercial and affordable properties in urban locations.

The 2026 award arrives as SkyWorld advances its SkyWorld 2040: 15-Year Growth Strategy, centred on sustainable community development and long-term value creation for homeowners and stakeholders.
