PETALING JAYA (July 16): PMW International Bhd is developing a new spun concrete pile manufacturing facility in Bemban, Perak, involving an estimated capital investment of RM43.76 million as the infrastructure solutions provider expands its production capacity.

The Bemban Facility, located on approximately 12 acres of industrial land in Kawasan Perindustrian Bemban, Perak, is designed to have an estimated production capacity of 40,000 metric tonnes of spun concrete piles per month upon completion.

The company announced the development in a Bursa Malaysia filing today in conjunction with its groundbreaking ceremony, which also saw its wholly owned subsidiary PMW Winabumi Sdn Bhd (PWSB) awarding the main construction works to ECJ Construction Sdn Bhd.

Construction began yesterday, with targeted completion in the first quarter of 2027. Commercial operations are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2027.

Capacity expansion and financing

PMW said the Bemban Facility forms part of its initiative to expand its manufacturing footprint and strengthen its position in Malaysia’s infrastructure and foundation products sector.

Upon completion, the facility is expected to increase the Group’s total annual production capacity from 238,000 metric tonnes to 718,000 metric tonnes.

The project will be financed through a combination of internally generated funds and bank borrowings. PMW said Maybank Islamic Bhd has provided PWSB with banking facilities with an aggregate limit of RM54.5 million to support the development of the facility, production machinery, revolving credit and trade financing requirements.

At the same event, PWSB awarded the construction contract for the production area and ancillary buildings to ECJ Construction, with a contract value of approximately RM14.2 million.

Strengthening infrastructure supply network

PMW said the Bemban Facility will become its fifth manufacturing facility in Perak, alongside its existing operations in Ipoh, and is expected to support the Group’s ability to supply foundation products for utilities, industrial and engineering projects.

The company added that the facility’s location is expected to improve logistics efficiency and delivery lead times for customers across Northern and Central Peninsular Malaysia.

PMW International executive director and CEO Lee Hon Hwa said the project marked the transition from planning to execution for one of the Group’s expansion initiatives.

“Together with the appointment of ECJ Construction and the financing support from Maybank Islamic, we have established a strong foundation to bring the Bemban Facility into operation and support the Group’s next phase of growth,” he said.

Broader manufacturing expansion

Beyond the Bemban Facility, PMW said it is also pursuing other initiatives including the planned Tanjung Manis Facility in Sarawak, renewal of its long-term supply agreement with CTS Horizon Sdn Bhd, and recent supply orders for infrastructure projects.

These include a RM11.92 million spun pile supply order from SL Virtue Sdn Bhd for an infrastructure project in Perak and a RM11.84 million supply agreement for the Point of Presence Phase 2 Infrastructure and Fibre Optic Hub Project.

PMW said it manufactures pre-stressed spun concrete poles and piles, including standard poles, monopoles, decorative poles, spun piles and square piles, and operates manufacturing facilities in Ipoh, Perak and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The group also has an upcoming facility in Tanjung Manis, Sarawak.
