Tropicana introduces SouthPlace 2 Shoppes at Tropicana Metropark

PETALING JAYA (July 20): Tropicana Corp Bhd has introduced SouthPlace 2 Shoppes, a retail component within its 88-acre Tropicana Metropark township in Subang Jaya.

The development comprises 74 retail units ranging from 562 sq ft to 3,266 sq ft, with selected units designed for food and beverage operators. It is targeted for completion in March 2027.

In a statement today, Tropicana said SouthPlace 2 Shoppes is located within Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and Glenmarie, serving a residential catchment of more than 26,000 residents.

The development will provide retail, dining and lifestyle offerings within the township, complementing SouthPlace Shoppes and the surrounding residential areas.

Builds on SouthPlace residential and retail ecosystem

Tropicana managing director of marketing & sales and business development Ixora Ang said SouthPlace 2 Shoppes represents the next phase in the ongoing development of Tropicana Metropark.

“Designed to complement our growing residential community, the development offers businesses a strategic commercial address supported by a ready catchment, excellent connectivity, and strong long-term growth potential,” she said.

“The successful opening of Mercato and our growing mix of established retailers further demonstrate the strong commercial appeal of Tropicana Metropark, providing businesses at SouthPlace 2 Shoppes with immediate synergies and a ready customer base.”

The project follows the completion of SouthPlace Residences, which is fully sold, and SouthPlace 2 Residences, which has recorded an 80% take-up rate.

Connected to Federal Highway and adjoining retail hub

SouthPlace 2 Shoppes is connected to the Federal Highway via a dedicated link bridge and is adjacent to SouthPlace Shoppes, where existing tenants include Mercato, Health Lane Family Pharmacy, Anytime Fitness, myNEWS, Red Cawan, The General Dining, Home Cycle, Swimology and Hattitude Salon.

Tropicana said SouthPlace Shoppes is anchored by Mercato, which occupies 21,069 sq ft and offers grocery, café, bakery, Euro Deli and Uncle Jack Fried Chicken offerings.

The new retail component will provide 338 covered parking bays and incorporate features including regenerative lifts, rainwater harvesting, energy-efficient lighting, CCTV and a Guard Tour System.

SouthPlace 2 Shoppes will undergo assessment under the Quality Assessment System in Construction (QLASSIC).

Within Tropicana Metropark, the development is complemented by the 9.2-acre Urban Park and Sri KDU International School. It is accessible via the Federal Highway and major expressways including the LDP, NPE, NKVE, SKVE, KESAS and the North-South Expressway.
