Nga Kor Ming said Arec 2026 would serve as a one-stop platform for Malaysians to explore housing options, financing solutions and advisory services.

PETALING JAYA (July 23): Homebuyers attending the Asean Real Estate Conference (Arec) 2026 will be able to enjoy a 10% home purchase discount from participating developers, according to the Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).

The four-day event will be held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) in Kuala Lumpur from July 29 to Aug 1. KPKT said the conference will bring together property developers, financial institutions, investors and industry stakeholders, while offering prospective buyers access to residential projects, housing financing information and homeownership advisory services.

The ministry said the 10% discount initiative is intended to help ease buyers' upfront home purchase costs as part of broader efforts to expand access to homeownership through collaboration between the government, financial institutions and the property industry.

Visitors will also be able to obtain housing financing advice from Syarikat Jaminan Kredit Perumahan Bhd (SJKP).

According to KPKT, Budget 2026 increased SJKP's financing guarantee limit by a further RM20 billion to help 80,000 first-time homebuyers, particularly individuals with irregular incomes, the self-employed and gig economy workers, obtain housing financing.

KPKT said that, as at June 30, the initiative had benefited 118,731 homebuyers, with total financing guarantees amounting to RM28.92 billion.

Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming said Arec 2026 would serve as a one-stop platform for Malaysians to explore housing options, financing solutions and advisory services.

He said the ministry is targeting 100,000 visitors over the four-day event and expects the conference to generate RM1.5 billion in property transactions.

Besides the property exhibition featuring residential projects by participating developers, visitors can attend forums and knowledge-sharing sessions by local and international real estate experts, obtain consultations on home purchases and financing at the KPKT Pavilion, and take part in family-oriented activities.

Admission to Arec 2026 is free.
