PETALING JAYA (Aug 7): AWC Bhd's wholly owned subsidiary Qudotech Sdn Bhd has secured a RM23.08 million subcontract to undertake plumbing, silo tank and internal sanitary works for a data centre project.

In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Thursday (Aug 6), AWC said Qudotech had accepted a letter of award (LoA) from an undisclosed joint venture contractor.

The company said the joint venture comprises two Malaysia-incorporated private companies principally engaged in civil engineering, construction and project management, including the development of large-scale infrastructure and specialised facilities.

AWC said the identity of the awarder, as well as certain contract details, could not be disclosed due to confidentiality and non-disclosure obligations imposed by the project owner and parties in the main contracting structure.

The subcontract commenced on April 24, 2026, with preliminary works having begun while the parties finalised certain terms and conditions of the LoA. The works are scheduled for completion by June 10, 2027.

AWC said the subcontract is expected to contribute positively to the group's earnings and net assets for the financial year ending June 30, 2027, and throughout the duration of the works. The award is in line with the group's strategy to expand its presence in high-tech and mission-critical infrastructure projects.

The group said it does not foresee any exceptional risks other than the normal operational risks associated with project execution, costs and scheduling, which will be managed under its established project management and risk mitigation practices.

The latest award follows another data centre subcontract secured by Qudotech in April, valued at RM22.18 million, for plumbing, silo tank and internal sanitary works. The earlier contract was also awarded by an undisclosed Malaysia-incorporated joint venture between two private construction companies.

None of AWC's directors, major shareholders or persons connected to them has any direct or indirect interest in the contract.
